League-supported initiative continues to move forward through legislative process.
(Published Apr 18, 2013)
As reported in an earlier article from Gary Carlson, the League and Metro Cities-led effort to repeal the sunset for Special Service Districts and Housing Improvement Areas is currently included in the House Omnibus Tax Bill. The language would permanently extend city authority to utilize these two tools in their communities with their townhome and business areas.
The House Omnibus Tax bill (HF 766) was passed out of the House taxes committee on Wednesday evening and now awaits action on the House floor.
The Senate omnibus tax bill has not yet been unveiled; it is expected to be shared on Tuesday morning in the Senate Taxes Committee.
